The role of European industry in fusion research and development of key European fusion research facilities to date has been substantial in the supply of materials, components and systems for fusion research facilities.
The role of industry and industrial experience are of particular importance during the final design and construction phases of fusion research facilities, including the planning of the procurement of components, their manufacture, inspection, delivery, commissioning and assembly into systems, and the integration of the systems into the design of the facilities. The design and construction of fusion research facilities therefore offer numerous business opportunities for European industry. These were the reasons why the Industry Day was traditionally organised at previous SOFT conferences (except of course at the virtual SOFT 2020).
the Industry Day at SOFT 2022 is scheduled as a satellite event on Monday 19 September in the afternoon. The Industry Day will also be organised as a hybrid event, i.e. online participation will be possible as well as face-to-face participation.
The tentative list of speakers for the Industry Day is:
- Tony Donne (EUROfusion) - Role of Industry in EU fusion research
- Alain Becoulet (ITER) - ITER Business Opportunities
- Angel Ibarra (Consorcio IFMIF-DONES España) - DONES Business Opportunities
- Victor Saez (Fusion for Energy) - F4E Business Opportunities
